ROAD CONDITIONS INTO YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK
There are four ways into the park: Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, Highway 120 east from Modesto,
Highway 120 west from Lee Vining and Highway 395. During the winter months check current road conditions. Entrance fees for vehicles is: $20, and it is good for 7 days.
Always carry tire chains between November and April. Park chain control changes according to current weather conditions in the area.When the sun comes out controls drop rapidly whereas if it continues to snow the controls may become tougher. R0- open and clear•R1: Chains required - snow tread tires (M&S on side of tire) allowed. •R2: Chains required on all vehicles except four-wheel drives with snow tires. •R3: Chains required - all vehicles - no exceptions. The Park Rangers will not let you in to Yosemite when chain controls are in effect unless you have chains in your car. Buy your chains at home because they can be very expensive to buy in Yosemite.
